The November/December 2015 issue of Eastern Fly Fishing magazine features my photography and story on Massachusetts’ Nissitissit River, which offers some of the best trout waters an hour’s drive from Boston. Prized by many local fly anglers for the quietude and scenery of its fly-fishing-only and catch-and-release section, the Nissitissit was made even better with the recent removal of the Millie Turner dam in Pepperell, which is expected to improve flows and benefit the river’s wild brook trout population.
No fly-fishing trip to this river would be complete without a stop at the Evening Sun Fly Shop, one of Massachusetts’s finest fly shops whose affable owner, Charlie Shadan, is always there to promulgate excellent advice on everything related to fly fishing, fly tying, and beyond.
