I am a nonfiction writer published in English and French. My first book, Surf, Skate & Snow: Contre-cultures, was published in November 2013 by French publisher Editions Courtes et Longues and was awarded the 2014 Sportel Book Prize, rewarding the best illustrated sport books of the year.
Surf, Skate & Snow: Contre-cultures is an illustrated history of board sports and their culture from the 1950s to today. It recounts how surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding have fostered counter-cultures whose influence encompasses popular culture, visual arts, photography, film, music and fashion.
My interests are diverse and so are the other topics I have covered since I started my career as a copy editor and reporter for French newspapers Sud-ouest, La Montagne and Le Figaro. I contribute today in both French — my native language — and English to publications on both sides of the Atlantic. My articles have appeared in French art magazines Beaux-arts, L’Oeil and Le Journal des Arts, French food magazine Gault & Millau, as well as a National Geographic book on my native region of Aquitaine.
More recently, I co-authored the 2013, 2015 and 2017 editions of Cartoville Boston, a French travel guide to Boston published by Gallimard Loisirs. An avid fly angler, I also contribute regularly as a writer and photographer to the fly-fishing destination magazine Eastern Fly Fishing.
